GP PRO Raises the Industry Bar with Customer-Driven Solutions
June 16, 2025
Atlanta – They are the items you don’t think about until you need them, and then only fleetingly. From office buildings, to shopping malls, it’s important to provide paper towels in washrooms to maintain hygiene, and cutlery to provide convenience. And these needs must be met without contributing to excess waste in terms of costs and the environment.
Raising the bar with customer-driven solutions, GP PRO developed innovative technology that you may actually notice the next time you go to use paper towel dispensers or grab a to-go fork or spoon. As a division of Georgia-Pacific, GP PRO offers reliable hygiene innovations for food service, manufacturing, healthcare, office and high-traffic industries with brands you may recognize like Dixie® and enMotion®.
Georgia-Pacific believes that even good products and concepts have room for improvement and actively embrace creative destruction. GP PRO also works to constantly transform its products, incorporating the knowledge and skill of our teams and ideas from our customers, to meet their needs beyond expectations.
GP PRO recently launched a new paper towel dispenser technology called ECON Mode, which extends battery life in enMotion® Paper Towel Dispensers. With ECON Mode, after a set period of inactivity, the enMotion® dispenser automatically powers down. Referred to as “hang mode” because a paper towel is visibly hanging from the dispenser, battery use is paused until the dispenser is re-activated by a user removing the hanging towel. ECON Mode technology is now the default setting on all new enMotion® dispensers.
By pausing battery use, often for hours at a time, ECON mode extends battery life to five years – two times more than that of the next leading competitor and enables a throughput of more than 110 towel rolls. It helps improve operational efficiency and decrease costs by reducing the number of replacement batteries that must be purchased. It also contributes to sustainability by reducing power consumption and battery waste. ECON Mode was recognized with The ISSA Innovation Leaders Award in the Hygiene Solution Innovation of the Year category in Fall 2024.
In addition to developing cost and resource saving technology, GP PRO is constantly evaluating its products and how to make them better. We received increased demand for cutlery dispensers that could be used in breakrooms, convenience stores, and foodservice establishments with limited space. GP PRO developed the Dixie Ultra® SmartStock® Mini Tri-Tower Cutlery Station, a compact counterpart to the Tri-Tower, that provides cutlery while remaining safe, hygienic and prevents product waste.
The new Mini Tri-Tower dispenser stands at 17.5 inches tall to easily fit beneath standard hung upper cabinets and holds 195 utensils. The original Tri-Tower dispenser is 29” tall and holds 390 utensils.
Both towers provide one-at-a-time dispensing of 3-in-1 knives, forks, spoons, or sporks, and can be wall mounted or placed atop a counter. The cutlery stations take pre-configured refills that help reduce load time for added convenience. The technology also helps reduce cutlery usage by 31% compared to open cutlery bins and offers touchless and automated product dispensing.
